Anna & James

Owners Anna and James bring a wealth of experience to The Norfolk Mead, having met while working in catering for McLaren on the Formula One circuit twenty years ago. Their global journey involved serving the culinary needs of McLaren's drivers, mechanics, and support team, allowing them to refine their skills and develop a passion for exceptional service and hospitality.

The Norfolk Mead represents the realisation of their long-held dream to own a luxury hotel and event venue that reflects their commitment to excellence. 

Their vision was to create a place where guests could enjoy unparalleled comfort and personalised service in a stunning setting. Alongside managing The Norfolk Mead, Anna Duttson Events continues to thrive under Anna’s leadership, offering exceptional catering services for private and corporate events across the UK and Europe.Together, Anna and James have combined their extensive experience and dedication to create a haven of luxury and refinement. 

Anna & James

Owners Anna and James both come from a catering background and first met when they were working for McLaren on the Formula One circuit twenty years ago; travelling the world and catering for the culinary needs of the McLaren drivers, mechanics and support team. The Norfolk Mead was the realisation of their dream to own their own hotel and venue.

Anna Duttson Events continues to run successfully from Norfolk, catering for private and corporate events all over the UK and Europe.

We have over eight acres of lovingly kept private grounds for you to enjoy during your stay at The Norfolk Mead. From our expansive front lawn to the gardens that circle the Hotel and extend right to the banks of the River Bure.


Our private lake has swans, geese and other wildfowl and a leisurely stroll around the grounds is the ideal way to work up an appetite for breakfast or dinner.

Boating Trips

Enjoy a lazy day boating on the Norfolk Broads in our exclusive open-topped six-seater English Harbour Yacht. You will sail through breathtaking scenery.

Enjoy the wildlife, stop off for drinks in one of the many welcoming riverside pubs, or have lunch on deck with one of our freshly prepared picnic hampers. Unfortunately, we do not allow dogs on our day boat.

We welcome pets at The Norfolk Mead but unfortunately they can only stay in some of our rooms: Juniper, Crab Apple and Sweet Chestnut.Also please be aware before you book that dogs and pets are not allowed in the main Hotel or on our boat. 

Pets are charged at £20 per night and we do operate a well-behaved pet policy (any damages caused by pets must be paid before you check-out). Should your pet be particularly noisy, you may be asked to vacate the room so other guests are not unduly affected.

At the heart of The Norfolk Mead is our walled garden, with lush lawns, rose bushes and a large sheltered terrace to ensure you can enjoy Afternoon Tea or pre-dinner drinks in a group or in private to suit your mood.


The walled garden is lovingly tended by our groundsman to keep the flowerbeds in bloom throughout the spring and summer - we hope you enjoy spending time there as much as we do.
