The Norfolk Mead launch their ‘1740’ Gin with local distillery Black Shuck

Norfolk Broads National Park Hotel and Restaurant The Norfolk Mead has collaborated with Fakenham-based Distillery Black Shuck to launch their own Gin.

The 'Norfolk Mead 1740' Gin is distilled with Blackberry and Elderflower. The luxury destination venue has worked with Black Shuck to design a bespoke label merging the two brands in the Hotel’s special shade of grey, featuring an illustration of the Hotel frontage.

Assistant General Manager Liam Upton commented: “We are so pleased to have our own Norfolk Mead 1740 Gin for our visitors to enjoy with us. This project has been almost a year in the making, but we are thankful to work with Patrick, Sarah and the great team at Black Shuck who have kept the product development going despite a difficult year for us all.

“We wanted the Gin to reflect the essence of the Norfolk Mead, and what it is like to visit us and spend time in our historic and atmospheric surroundings. Our Georgian Mansion was built in 1740, so this was an obvious choice for the name. Flavour-wise, our Executive Chef Damien Woollard worked with Patrick and Sarah to produce something both distinctive and delicious. The Blackberry and Elderflower combination was a clear winner from the samples that the distillery produced for us. We know our visitors will absolutely love a Norfolk Mead 1740 Gin and Tonic – we’d recommend Fevertree for the optimum festive drink!”

Black Shuck added: “Working with the team at The Norfolk Mead was a dream project. Their enthusiasm and drive for perfection have resulted in a beautiful Gin which is embodied by the stunning and iconic label."
