The Norfolk Mead is thrilled to announce they have been selected as a finalist in the 2019 EAT Norfolk Food and Drink Awards for Best Afternoon Tea.

The winners will be announced at the black tie awards dinner at the Open Norwich on Monday 9th September.

Owner Anna Duttson commented: We are really pleased to have been selected as finalists for Best Afternoon Tea in Norfolk by the panel of judges. We work hard to produce a delicious fresh afternoon tea for every guest. Everything is homemade on site with traditional sandwiches, fruit or plain scones, Norfolk strawberry jam and local clotted cream, cake including macarons, pavlovas, cheese cake, ginger cake and lemon drizzle cake, and special touches including our secret recipe chocolate brownies, bottomless hot Tea-pig teas, and champagne or prosecco.

“Guests can take their tea in our private walled garden with lush lawns, rose bushes and a large sheltered terrace, bar or lounge areas with comfy sofas, candles and roaring log fires, or stylish and atmospheric dining room or private Georgian Room.

"They can combine with bespoke spa treatments on site in our Treatment Rooms; go for a relaxing stroll through our eight acres of lovingly kept private grounds right down to the banks of the River Bure. They can spot the swans, geese and other wildfowl on our private lake. They can even request to have their afternoon tea picnic-style and take it out in our six seater English Harbour Yacht and enjoy a relaxed afternoon boating on the Norfolk Broads.

"We cater for all dietary requirement – diabetics, gluten free, dairy free and more. We’ll even box up leftovers! Nothing is too much trouble for our attentive staff."

Afternoon Tea at The Norfolk Mead costs £18.50 per person or £32 for a Champagne Afternoon Tea.

But don’t take our word for it …

“The best afternoon tea we’ve had by a country mile ... everything from the service, choice of teas, nice fresh fluffy bread and warm scones which didn’t crumble! 10/10.”

“Lovely venue, the staff are all friendly, nice & helpful. The afternoon tea is scrummy and the treatments are very relaxing. Lovely service, lovely afternoon tea, highly recommended.”

“We had a fabulous afternoon tea at the Mead today. Delicious sandwiches and cakes. Lots of hot tea and the staff were so friendly, polite and keen to please. A lovely afternoon treat.”

“Came for afternoon tea about a month ago and was the best afternoon tea I've had. Can't wait to come back soon!”
